Camp Hours: 9am - 4pm Monday
- Friday
9 am- noon....stall
cleaning, Class in basic horse anatomy and horse care. This
includes: temperature, respiration and pulse, as well as cleaning
and grooming and horse anatomy (form to function) Ground handling &
fitting: This includes fitting a halter and saddle, leading properly
and safely, basic safety in individual and group settings.
Noon-1pm...lunch, student is
responsible for own lunch (except overnight students) soda and sugar
are discouraged
1pm-3:30.....Riding:
Individual and group. English & Western, novice to advanced. Lessons
in indoor arena and outdoor arena. Students will learn
the value of riding bareback as well as in a saddle. Teamwork and
good sportsmanship is encouraged in all lessons. Jumping will
only be permitted after student has shown good form riding.
Riding skills must include walk, trot and canter and jumps will
begin with 18" cross rails; safety always comes first! Students are
encouraged to learn and care about the horse, not just to ride.
3:30-4pm....All horses must
be properly cooled out before being returned to stall or pasture.
During the week there will also be
lessons in lunging and driving. Horse anatomy relays will be done to
encourage teamwork and sportsmanship.
Friday 3:30PM (last
day of each camp)...Student show &
awards, family & friends are encouraged to attend.
Attire should include: heeled
footwear (no sneakers), long sleeved shirt , long pants, (no tank
tops, dangling earrings, necklaces, or bracelets while riding) ASTM
helmets are maintained on the premises if student does not have one.
Weekly over
night camps
Weekly overnight camps- Mon.9am thru
Fri.5pm
Overnight camps will have the same
instructions as the day camps but will include the following...
Overnight students will assist with
feeding, bedding and turning out of horses morning and night. There
will be an evening equine discussion and evening riding. There will
be driving and lunging. The students are encouraged to learn what
working horse life is like. Overnight students stay with us and we
prepare their meals.
Overnight camp enrollment is limited to 6
students.
Camp reservations must be made with a
$150.00 non-refundable deposit for day camp and overnight camp.
Deposits must be sent within 14 days of verbal reservation.
Deposit will be applied to camp balance. |
